Fish The Eden
The Eden is one of England’s finest salmon and trout rivers and we can help you arrange fishing on local association waters or privately owned beats on our doorstep. There are also some stocked trout waters and course fishing in the area, we can give you more details should you wish.
We now sell day tickets for both Brampton Angling Association and Penrith Angling Association.
Fishing Tuition
Mr.Clive Mitchelhill of Border Game anglers offers one to one or group tuition in all aspects of fishing. Including salmon and trout casting for beginners, improvers and more advanced casters, all tackle can be provided if required at no extra cost. Also course fishing is available. -

Walk The Eden, Wildlife, Woods and River banks
For casual walkers and ramblers a circular walk starts from our car-park, along river banks, through woods and open pasture land .You can choose one of three options all varying in length. Many other walks can be enjoyed and we keep a stock of leaflets to help you with your choice.
Visit Historic Sites, Romans, Rievers and Writers
Hadrian’s Wall and Carlisle Castle have helped repel invaders from over the border and nowadays they offer an interesting insight into our areas history.
There are many historic houses in the vicinity including Hutton in the Forrest and Dalemaine, both well worth a visit, as is Tuille house Museum in Carlisle and the fabulous Abbots Hall Gallery in Kendal. And of course whilst in the Lake District the areas literary past can be retraced.
Swim in a luxury indoor heated pool

Take the Train
Armathwaite is the penultimate station on the Settle-Carlisle railway line. As well as providing a really useful transport link along the Eden Valley and The Yorkshire Dales, it passes through some stunning countryside. - www.settle-carlisle.co.uk
Sculptures, pottery and paintings

Lowood Gallery on the outskirts of Armathwaite from time to time has some influential exhibitions by local and national artists.
Keep the Children (and adults) amused “Pots of Fun” is also situated at Wetheriggs. Here you can throw a pot, paint a vase and learn a whole range of skills. The accent is on fun and everyone is welcome to try his or her hand at something a little creative.
Visit Eden Ostrich World
Just along the valley or a short train journey away is The Eden Ostrich World based near the village of Langwathby where fun and education are the order of the day. These fascinating creatures can be seen strutting around along with a donkey with stripes (its dad is a Zebra!!) and a menagerie of other animals. - www.ostrich-world.com
Shopping
For those who enjoy a bit of retail therapy we are ideally situated for a trip to Newcastle and Gateshead Metro Centre, Glasgow is just over an hour away and Leeds could be your destination for a trip along the Settle-Carlisle railway, or you could stop off at the lovely Market town of Skipton.
Closer to home we have the Gretna Outlet Village where many a bargain can be had and the town of Penrith has some lovely individual shops and a thriving Tuesday market.
